A Guide to Hotels on Norfolk Island

Published 17th May 2022

There are so many great hotels on Norfolk Island, it can be difficult choosing which one to base your next holiday at.

Norfolk Island, located off the east coast of Australia, is a hidden gem in the South Pacific. Only 8x5kms in size, this island has so much to offer travellers. From the deep history, national parks, local customs, paddock to plate food, and the stunning beaches, there are endless things to discover. At the end of the day when you have finished your exploring, you will want to come back to an accommodation that can offer you even more.

Norfolk Island is largely known for its self-catering style accommodation, traditional homes, or cottage accommodation. But the island does have 4 hotels that offer something different to each other. Spacifica Travel’s Norfolk Island experts have taken the hard work out of finding the differences for you and compiled a list for you to compare the different hotels on Norfolk Island.

Castaway Norfolk Island

Located just outside the main area of Burnt Pine, Castaway Norfolk Island offers not just hotel rooms but also the option for one-bedroom suites. Boasting the only brewery on the island located on site, you can enjoy the local brew while watching the sunset from the outdoor deck. On a Friday night, be quick to taste one of the island’s famous wood fire pizzas (numbers are limited). The accommodation’s owner Sarah and her team will leave you feeling like family at the end of your stay.

South Pacific Resort Hotel

If you are looking for a resort that offers you choice in accommodation options, then you can’t go past the South Pacific Resort Hotel. With 70 rooms across 7 different room categories, there is something for everyone.

From their garden rooms right up to their penthouse suite overlooking the largest pool on the island, you will find an accommodation option that meets your needs. The hotel offers all guests the hotel shuttle bus service into town and an invite to the weekly managers’ drinks.

Governor’s Lodge

Proudly the island’s first environmentally sustainable hotel, Governor’s Lodge is the best option if you are wanting to reduce your carbon footprint. Stay in one of their one-bedroom private cabins which offer your own balcony, kitchenette and lounge room, while having the use of all the resort facilities like the pool and spa.

If you are looking for quality dining options, then Governor’s will not disappoint. With three different outlets to choose from they have you covered. Enjoy breakfast at the Boathouse, lunch at the Café and dinner in the original home of the grounds, Bailey’s Restaurant.

Paradise Resort Norfolk Island

Located just outside of town, set on 11 acres of landscaped tropical gardens is Paradise Resort Norfolk Island. This property offers 50 spacious rooms in four different accommodation styles, from solo traveller rooms to suites overlooking the pool, there is something for every budget and every traveller. After a day out discovering the island, come back and enjoy the indoor and outdoor dining options at the Garden Restaurant & Bar.
