Published 11th Mar 2022

Golden beaches, vibrant reefs, and an authentic island experience are just some of the reasons why Australians love going on Bora Bora holidays. Bora Bora has established itself as the shining star of the Society Islands. With its striking geographical landscape and welcoming tropical vibes, this slice of paradise has been a desirable vacation spot for generations.

Spacifica Travel loves introducing people to the wonders of Bora Bora. From its unique accommodation to rich island culture, choosing Bora Bora for your next tropical getaway means choosing the experience of a lifetime. Our ultimate guide to Bora Bora holidays explores what makes this island so romantic, adventurous, and one-of-a-kind.

Bora Bora Geography

Bora Bora is located in French Polynesia, to the north-west of Tahiti. The islands of Bora Bora are surrounded by a stunning lagoon and fringing reef that protects it from the powerful waves of the Pacific Ocean. When viewed from outer-space, this reef looks like a protective ring wrapping the islands in its embrace.

The land of Bora Bora is no less magnificent. From its golden beaches, the land rises to two volcanic peaks, Mount Otemanu at 727 metres and Mount Pahia at 661 metres. Tropical vegetation engulfs the islands, while the lagoons are teeming with vibrant coral and sea life. There’s a reason why Hollywood loves using Bora Bora as a backdrop for blockbuster movies – its natural beauty and colour are a treat for the senses that never fails to impress.

Hotels in Bora Bora

When looking for Bora Bora accommodation, you won’t come away feeling disappointed. For an experience unlike any other, you have resorts like the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora or InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort. Both of these offer overwater bungalows raised above the turquoise lagoon on stilts which allow guests to have the wonders of the Pacific right on their doorstep.

Other stellar accommodation spots on Bora Bora include Le Bora Bora by Pearl Resorts and Conrad Bora Bora Nui. But no matter where you choose to stay, the hotels and resorts throughout Bora Bora all adhere to a level of quality that ensures you will holiday in comfort and style.

The Weather in Bora Bora

The weather in Bora Bora can be divided into two clear seasons. The wet season lasts approximately from November to April and is defined by its humid days and rain. While it’s still possible to enjoy a Bora Bora holiday during this period, most vacationers choose to visit during the dry season between May and October. The humidity levels are far more comfortable during this period of the year, and the temperature usually sits around a pleasant 24-28°C.
