Luxury Cook Islands Activities

Published 12th Aug 2020

The Cook Islands & luxury certainly go hand in hand. Think idyllic white sand beaches, brilliant turquoise waters, stunning sunsets & overwater bungalows. Choosing the right accommodation is only a small part of planning your luxury escape. Whether you are a couple wanting intimate experiences, a solo traveller wanting  some R&R, or friends & family spending quality time & making memories, you can make your journey extra special by adding some luxury activities & intimate private dining options. Here are a few ideas to get you started- we promise they will take your Cook Islands holiday to a whole new level of luxury!

Aitutaki Day Trip - Rarotonga

Are you dreaming of an Aitutaki stay, but are short on time, or perhaps only want to unpack once in Rarotonga? Then a day tour to Aitutaki is a must! Depart Rarotonga for your 50 minute morning flight, before exploring the island by ‘le truck’. Then it is on to the highlight on the day- a catamaran cruise that will explore several motus (small insets) including stunning One Foot Island. There is time to snorkel & swim before savouring a tasty barbeque lunch, cooked right onboard.  You will return back to Rarotonga by 5:30pm allowing plenty of time to watch the sun set with a cocktail in hand.

 Scenic Flights- Rarotonga

Enjoy a scenic flight above and around Rarotonga in a high wing Cessna. View the inland valleys and plantations, the reef and the drop-off into the deep blue ocean, emerald green motus and the turquoise lagoon. A truly memorable experience- don't forget your camera!

Bishops Private Cruise – Aitutaki

If you are lucky enough to stay on Aitutaki then you must experience either a private half or full charter with Bishops cruises. Your captain & guide will show you the very best places to snorkel, and the full day option includes a delicious BBQ lunch on One Foot island.

Whale Watching - Aitutaki

This Whale watching tour allows you to swim with the whales if you are fortunate enough to encounter these magnificent creatures up close. Even better- there is the option to have the tour to yourselves as this is offered as both a group tour and a private charter.

Tekings Maina Champagne Brunch – Aitutaki

Spend the morning on board this lazy Lagoon Cruise with Champagne Brunch at Maina Island. Snorkel in some of the best locations in Aitutaki’s pristine lagoon and have the opportunity to see turtles at home in the crystal clear waters. An unforgettable experience!

Tekings Sunset Adventure Cruise – Aitutaki

Spend the evening on board this Lagoon Cruise and unwind & watch the sunset over Aitutaki’s pristine lagoon while sipping on champagne. The perfect way to end your day!

Private dining options

Many resorts offer intimate or private dining experiences, so it is worth asking about these when exploring your accommodation options. Some Rarotonga examples include Te Vakaroa Villas who offer chef prepared champagne breakfasts & sunset champagne BBQ dinners, and Crown Beach Resort who can arrange a romantic dinner on the beach for 2. In Aitutaki why not experience a private dinner with wine on your beachfront deck at the Aitutaki Escape.

Hopefully this has given you a taste of some of the wonderful experiences on offer at the Cook Islands. Why not explore our current Cook Islands packages or call our team of specialist travel consultants on 1800 800 722.
