Earl's Anchorage

Earl’s Anchorage is Lord Howe Island’s premium self-contained accommodation. This property boasts 5 architect designed luxury air-conditioned bungalows. Each generously sized bungalow is different, some more noticeably than others. Different roof shapes, window placement and proportions have been used to create interesting spaces. Every living area has direct access to a northern outside deck and a northerly aspect to maximise winter warmth. Ceilings are all unique, from sweeping vaults to pitched. All buildings are of eco sustainable design and are free standing for maximum privacy.

A broadwalk meanders through the property connecting each bungalow giving a nautical village feel. This is a unique accommodation that responds to the climate, topography and feel of Lord Howe Island.

Earl’s Anchorage is centrally located on a 5 acre estate among the native kentia palms & subtropical gardens. We are within walking distance of restaurants, beaches, shops & many scenic walks. Your host is a direct descendant of the islands original settlers.

Each bungalow at Earl’s Anchorage is named after one of Jack Earl’s famous boats – Smoky Cape, Maris,  Tarpon, Kathleen, Myee & Eula – and just like each of Jack’s yachts, each bungalow is distinct with it’s own unique personal style. Earl’s Anchorage has 4 one bedroom bungalows and 2 two bedroom bungalows, each bungalow features custom designed & built furniture by Tasmanian master shipwright, Ned Trewartha.

One Bedroom Bungalow Earl’s Anchorage features four fully self-contained One Bedroom Bungalow with quality fixtures and furnishings. Each generously sized bungalow is different with its own characteristics. Every Living/Dining/ Kitchen has a northern aspect to maximise winter warmth, with direct access to a northern outside deck area. Each Living/Dining room has a unique ceiling shape from sweeping vaults to pitched, and we have carefully positioned each building to be separate and achieve a pleasant private outlook, while maintaining a connected 'village feel'.  One of the bungalows has disabled access and fittings. Bedding is 1 Double Bed and 2 Rollaway Beds on request. The Maximum room capacity is 4 Adults or 2 Adults and 2 Children.

Two Bedroom Bungalow:  Earl’s Anchorage features two fully self-contained Two Bedroom Bungalows with quality fittings and furnishings. Generously sized  Bungalow with a deck, kitchenette, lounge & dining room. Each bungalow is different, some more noticeably than others.  Living space has a northern aspect to maximise winter warmth, with direct access to a northern outside deck area.  Bedding is 1 Double Bed and 2 Single Beds and 2 Rollaway Beds on request. The Maximum room capacity is 6 Adults or 2 Adults and 4 Children.
