Vanuatu Tours for the Family

Published 2nd Oct 2020

A family holiday allows you to reconnect, learn more about each other and enjoy shared experiences that help strengthen your family bonds. Unfortunately, COVID-19 travel restrictions has meant that most of us had to miss out on the usual annual family holiday this year. However, that just means that we can go bigger and better for next year’s escape! Why not consider Vanuatu for your 2021 family holiday and make it extra special with one of our top 5 tours!

1. Ekasup Feast

Departing from your hotel you will travel to the Ekasup village located at Erakor. You will be guided down into the main village where you can experience the tingling sensation and numbing excitement induced by freshly prepared Kava. Following this a traditional fashion show displaying tribal costumes will be paraded to the soft tones of local music. You will then witness lifelong traditional custom dances around the fire. All this as well as a smorgasbord of local Vanuatu cuisine of Laplap, island spinach in coconut, beef and much more. A great culturally enriching experience.

2. Port Vila Sightseeing Tour

For those visiting Port Vila for the first time, this is a ‘short and sweet’ introductory tour around the township and its suburbs. Be introduced to Restaurants, Cafes, Pharmacies, Money Exchange and Banks. Get to know Port Vila Town and the wide range of things you can do during your stay. Your tour takes you past the Parliament House, The Cultural Centre (Museum), Hospital, Schools, French and British jailhouses etc. Explore the most picturesque spots in town, the ‘quick eats’ and the more extraordinary dining experience in Port Vila. Find out more about the colonial years of French and British rule and other various points of interests. The tour allows you to explore spots in town that tourists do not normally go to.

3. Horse Riding – Waterfall & River Ride

The kids will be talking about this one well after you return home! Enjoy spending time with majestic horses as your follow a hidden river that feeds the amazing Mele Cascade waterfalls. As you journey through rainforest you’ll come to the banks of the hidden river where you can swim and relax in the refreshing waters, enjoy a picnic lunch (not included) or just relax and enjoy the beauty of the nature in this special hidden part of Efate.

4. Mele Cascades

Your escorted tour will begin with a short drive past local villages and schools. Your knowledgeable tour guide will prove commentary along way, before guiding you through lush and tropical rainforest. Along the way you will have the opportunity to view local vegetable gardens and learn about the culture and livelihood of the local people. Enjoy a dip in the clear natural rock or simply sit under the cool shade and enjoy the green scenery. Afterwards, you will make your way to a lookout for a stunning vistas across the rainforest. When you descend from the lookout point, you will be treated to an array of tropical seasonal fruits and cold drinks waiting for you at the Mele Cascades Riverside Garden.

5. Sail & Snorkel Half Day Tour

Depart from Port Vila Harbour aboard "Caraid", a 60ft luxury motor sailer. Enjoy a calm trip to the crystal clear waters of Paradise Cove where we have exclusive rights to the beach and there are fresh water shower facilities and toilet facilities. The boat moors in 6 meters of water not far from the shore with no coral beneath the boat allowing you to jump off if you wish and explore the fringing reef. Fish feeding ensures that you will be swimming in a tropical aquarium. Kayaks are available on shore and there is ample shade and seating for guests who do not wish to be in the water the whole time. Snorkel with Maki or Josh in the water and let them guide you to the best coral viewing spots. There is an optional guided bush walk for those who wish to participate, takes about 15 minutes with information about local flora and fauna. A delicious morning tea of hot buttered cinnamon toast and fresh tropical fruit is served on board as well as tea, coffee, juice and iced water.
