Fijian Resorts with a Difference

Published 8th Nov 2022

Fiji is a destination on everyone’s bucket list, but it can be difficult to decide which Fijian resorts will offer you the most memorable and immersive experiences. Whether you’re looking for a cultural experience, the most luxurious features, stunning scenery, a bit of everything – the team at Spacifica Travel can help you pick which Fiji resorts meet your criteria.

We’ve listed some of the most unique Fijian resorts below, and you can also view more Fiji accommodation options here. If you’re thinking about booking a truly unforgettable holiday then get in touch with one of our Travel Specialists to help plan your travel to Fiji today – call 1800 800 722.

Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa

With the luxurious French flavour of the Sofitel brand, the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa exudes laidback elegance whilst still staying true to its Fijian surrounds. Only a 20-minute drive from Nadi International Airport, the resort is located on Denarau Island. Therefore, you can benefit from a central location close to other resorts, restaurants, boutiques, and Port Denarau (for access to outer islands and day trips).

Our favourite feature of Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa is the Waitui Beach Club. This exclusive Beach Club is the first of its kind in Fiji. An adults-only sanctuary where you can soak up the Pacific Ocean breezes whilst lounging in a cabana and sipping on a tropical cocktail. For guests staying in a Waitui and Waitui Plus room types, you will be treated to complimentary light snacks throughout the day, 1 hour sundowner drinks, delicious cocktails, and canapes from 5pm to 6pm – everyday!

First Landing Beach Resort & Villas

For history buffs, a stay at First Landing Beach Resort & Villas is a must-do.

In 1789 when the mutiny on the HMAS Bounty occurred, Captain William Bligh was cast off into a lifeboat where he sailed through the Fijian Islands. He hit a reef and Bligh and his remaining loyal crew were washed ashore on the beach where First Landing Resort is now located. The resort also features Foot Island, a foot-shaped island to signify this significant historical event which is used for weddings and other resort activities.

Fiji Hideaway Resort & Spa

This property makes the list because it is laid out like a traditional Fijian village, providing its guests the opportunity to experience an authentic Fijian escape whilst enjoying the comforts of a resort. There’s even a Traditional Fijian Village set up with thatched-roof bures and woven walls where guests can discover village life.

The bures at Fiji Hideaway are beautifully appointed and feature both indoor and outdoor showers. This beachfront resort offers fantastic value for those that want a unique stay on the Coral Coast.

Toberua Island Resort

This hidden gem is set on its own private island, off the Southeast Coast of Suva. With only 16 bures, you can rest assured that your stay will be intimate, tranquil, and private. Perfect for a romantic rendezvous where you can explore the island and discover your own special place to soak up the warm tropical sun.

For a truly unique experience, guests can tee off on the Toberua nine-hole par three reef golf course! Visible at low tide only, the reef golf course was founded in 1985 by Australian artist, Ken Done. You can also make your way along the nine-hole mini putt putt that follows the footpaths of the island.
