Planning A Romantic Getaway in the South Pacific

When it comes to planning a romantic getaway, the South Pacific is nothing short of accommodation choices, stunning landscapes to enjoy, spectacular sunrises and sunsets, sparkling crystal waters, activities for both of you to enjoy, and endless amounts of coastlines to enjoy those romantic walks on the beach. Here are a few ideas to help get your plans started.

Fiji: Intimate

If you’re thinking of something intimate, Fiji features many tropical islands with boutique resorts located in beautiful bays, surrounded by lush forests or accessible only by boat or helicopter. Likuliku Lagoon Resort is just one of the stand out properties that would make a perfect romantic getaway. This picturesque adults-only escape in the Mamanuca Islands was built for romance. It’s the first property in Fiji that features overwater bures – nothing says romance like an overwater bure! Guests can feel relaxed while gazing into a natural aquarium through their living room floor, enjoy a private picnic on Honeymoon Island or indulge in a couples pampering session at the Tatadra Spa. At the centre of the resort is an impressive building created in the shape of a traditional Fiji canoe, and is the home of the resort’s main restaurant, bar and wine cellar – a great spot to spend evenings enjoying a romantic meal with your significant other. Spend your days in the horizon edge pool and enjoy views out over the blue lagoon.

Vanuatu: Adventure

Whilst also peaceful and relaxing, Vanuatu is great at attracting adventure couples and honeymooners. With an active volcano to climb, wreck dives to explore and remote kastom villages to visit – adventurous couples can share common interests and experiences! If you’re looking for an adults-only boutique retreat, The Havannah Vanuatu offers guests a luxury escape with plenty of conveniences. Located only 30 minutes’ drive from Port Vila and set on a beautiful white sand peninsula, this resort provides a maximum of 34 guests an oasis of relaxation, cultural experiences and soft adventure. The only problem you’ll have is choosing between villas with private, plunge or lagoon pools!

Samoa: Traditional

Romantic getaways don’t have to be expensive. If you’re on a tight budget and keen to experience a traditional hut right on the beachfront, then you can always consider a beach Fale in Samoa. Most Fales don’t have walls, so you can enjoy those ocean breezes all day and night - it’s a must-try for couples to experience! An accommodation option to consider is Litia Sini, which gives couples a true island experience to remember. Couples can enjoy the beautiful landscapes by day, savour home-cooked meals, local brews and cultural experiences with the locals at night, and then wind down in their traditional Samoan Fale bungalow – something they won’t find in many places around the world!

Cook Islands: Fun

Rarotonga provides couples a fun beach holiday atmosphere with plenty of activities to enjoy together. Whether you’re wanting to kick back on the beach, snorkel, or hire a scooter to explore the island, there’s plenty of things to see and do. Many honeymooners or couples celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a romantic escape will also head to Aitutaki to enjoy some tranquillity, beautiful uninhabited islands and white sandy beaches. Aitutaki Lagoon also makes the perfect backdrop for all things romance, with its glistening turquoise waters and stunning coastlines. There are also a wide range of adult’s only accommodation options in Rarotonga from 4-star Muri Beach Club Hotel to 5-star Rumours Luxury Villas & Spa or 5-star Te Vakaroa Villas. In Aitutaki island, there’s the luxurious adult’s only - The Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort set on a stunning secluded islet on the edge of Aitutaki lagoon.

Tahiti: Impressive

An overwater bungalow stay is at the top of the list for many couples and honeymooners - and in Tahiti, there’s no shortage of them! French Polynesia is renowned for their luxury villas and overwater stays which makes for the perfect romantic destination – not to mention, a great way to impress your loved one! With idyllic lagoons, amazing beaches, luxurious resorts and exceptional services – you won’t want to leave. There is a long list of hotels and resorts to consider and the hardest part is choose one. In Bora Bora, there’s InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa, Le Meridien Bora Bora, Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort & Spa and The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort to name a few. If you’re looking for a more affordable option with the same standards, Moorea is a good option to look at such as Manava Beach Resort & Spa Moorea, InterContinental Moorea Resort & Spa and Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa. Whichever resort you choose, you won’t be disappointed.
