Treasure Island Fiji

Published 16th Sep 2020

Just like the novel penned by Robert Louis Stevenson, ‘Treasure Island’ conjures up an image of swashbuckling pirates with wooden legs, treasure maps where X marks the spot, and buried chests overflowing with all sorts of sparkling jewels and gold coins. In reality, there isn’t any buried treasure on Treasure Island in Fiji, well at least none that I know of.  However, it is indeed a ‘jewel’ in the South Pacific, offering its guests stunning white sand, warm crystal waters and swaying palm trees. Everything that you imagine a tropical island escape could be.

Treasure Island is one of the islands within the Mamanuca archipelago, lying west of Nadi International Airport.  It is a small, privately owned island, with only one resort, Treasure Island Resort and Spa.  On arrival into Nadi Airport, you will be greeted and transported to the marina, a 15-minute drive north of the Airport to meet the high speed boat transfer, which takes around 25 minutes to arrive on the Island.  Or why not live it up, and enjoy the stunning scenery from a helicopter transfer?

Treasure Island Resort is a 4-star property with traditional bures, offering the option of Oceanview, Premium Oceanview and Premium Beachfront.  All room types offer interconnecting rooms, so perfect for families of all shapes and sizes.

The Oceanview bure as it is so aptly named, offers views of the ocean, and whilst it is set back in the tropical garden surrounds, it is only a 30 metre stroll to the beach.  It is a very generous sized lead in room type with modern furnishings, a king bed and a single, and the option of adding a complimentary rollaway bed for an additional child under 12 years of age.  Amenities include air conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities and mini fridge, private balcony with outdoor furniture, and use of beach towels during your stay.

The Premium Oceanview bure offers similar bedding configuration as the Oceanview bure, with the king bed and the single, and a rollaway for an additional child under 12 if required.  This bure type offers stunning ocean views, which you can enjoy from your private patio.

As the name suggests, the Premium Beachfront Bures are absolute beachfront air conditioned bures, accommodating up to 4 adults with 1 king and 2 x single beds, or 2 adults and 3 children, with the complimentary rollaway bed for a 3rd child under 12. Enjoy the stunning ocean views from a private hammock or lounge chair.

Whilst the island may be small, it is big on hospitality and facilities.  There is a 3  tiered infinity swimming pool, a kiddies pool, Kids Club, tennis court, games room, Day Spa, watersport activities, live music and cultural activities. Phew! So much to do, you are bound to work up a serious appetite.  Well you will be spoiled for choice, as there are a number of delicious eateries available to tempt your taste buds.

The main dining restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner is the Eluvuka restaurant, offering an a la carte dining menu including international and traditional Fijian fare.  The Matasawa Teppanyaki is open for lunch and dinner dining, with amazing water views. If you are a fan of fresh seafood, then the Chef’s Signature Restaurant is a must.  If you are wanting a more private or romantic dining experience, you can dine in the secluded sunset bures, or book a luxury seaside gourmet BBQ under the stars.  The friendly team can also arrange a picnic lunch hamper on one of the many private sandbars surrounding the island, providing you with an umbrella and beach mats.

Fiji is well known for its hospitality, catering to all including the youngest of guests. The Little Treasures Kids Club offers a fun filled programme of cultural activities for your little ones. Language, basket weaving and Fijian dancing are just some of the activities on offer.  Babysitting services are also available, for those romantic date nights.

Whilst Treasure Island Resort is one of the most family friendly resorts in Fiji,  it is also an island of blissful romance, with a devoted team of wedding experts. Ceremony venues include the beach Chapel, a private sandbar or beachfront.
