2021 Hot Destinations for when borders reopen

Published 19th Feb 2021

As the world cautiously turns its gaze towards recovery and reopening, the allure of pristine beaches, captivating cultures, and untapped adventure beckons us to the South Pacific's welcoming shores. With the hopeful prospects of travel bubbles, accelerating vaccination efforts, and dwindling COVID-19 community transmission rates, dreams of sun-drenched escapades are closer to reality than ever before. This year, Spacifica Travel is shining the spotlight brightly on the most coveted destinations, promising unforgettable experiences for every type of traveller. Whether you're yearning for the tranquillity of island paradises or the thrill of exploration, the South Pacific holds the keys to your next grand adventure.

Dive into the heart of the Pacific with our Fiji holiday packages, where the promise of crystal-clear waters and warm Fijian hospitality awaits. Fiji holidays are synonymous with paradise, offering a blend of relaxation and adventure for families, couples, and solo travellers alike. Venture further to the unique charm of Norfolk Island holiday packages, where nature's beauty meets rich history, making Norfolk Island holidays a haven for those seeking peace and natural beauty. For those intrigued by cultural richness and stunning landscapes, Tahiti holiday packages offer an escape to French Polynesian splendour, where every island tells its own story.

Not to be overlooked, the Cook Islands beckon with their own promise of idyllic beaches and vibrant culture. Our Cook Islands holiday packages and Cook Islands travel experiences offer an intimate glimpse into the heart of Polynesia, where the spirit of Mana and a warm welcome awaits. Each destination, from the serene beaches of Fiji to the rugged beauty of Norfolk Island, from the exotic allure of Tahiti to the untouched paradise of the Cook Islands, presents a unique tapestry of experiences waiting to be discovered.

Norfolk Island & Lord Howe Island

These Australian Islands are already open and ready for you to travel to! Bookings for these destinations are already filling up fast, so book in now to avoid missing out! Norfolk Island is only a short 2 hour flight from Australia’s East Coast and is popular with nature lovers, history buffs and those just wanting a quiet, peaceful getaway. You will need to fill out a Norfolk Island Entry Pass 72 hours prior to travel, but other than that there are no other restrictions or quarantine requirements for Australian travellers as long as you have not been in a declared hotspot. Lord Howe Island is a World Heritage paradise that draws bird watchers, scuba-divers, hikers and other nature enthusiasts. There are also no restrictions or quarantine requirements for Lord Howe. Check out our Norfolk Island packages here or view our Lord Howe Island packages here.

New Zealand

Our neighbours across the ditch have already seen quarantine-free travel to Australia so we’re looking forward to this being opened up both ways to allow Australians to New Zealand in the near future. When borders do open, Grand Pacific Tours have some fantastic itineraries to help you make the most of your time in New Zealand. Plus, Spacifica Travel have exclusive rates so you’re guaranteed a better deal with us than anywhere else! Choose from a range of durations from 8 Day tours up to 19 Day expeditions with tour leaders, accommodation, attractions and most meals included. View our Grand Pacific Tours deals here.

Cook Islands

The Cook Islands have declared themselves COVID-19 free which is fantastic news for our Cook Islander friends but also proves them to be a great candidate for Australia to partner with to create a new travel bubble. Currently Cook Islanders are allowed to travel quarantine-free to New Zealand, in a phased approach that will eventually allow two-way travel between the two nations. Another encouraging sign that Australians will be next on the list! Only a 6 hour direct flight from Sydney and you could be relaxing on Muri Beach in Rarotonga spotting turtles in the crystal clear lagoon! View our Cook Island packages here.

Fiji

One of our favourite holiday destinations, Fiji is perfect for solo travellers, couples & families alike with a variety of experiences to do as little or as much as you please. When borders open, this pacific island will be high on our to-do list! The Fijian government has also implemented the Care Fiji Commitment, a program developed to include enhanced standards of safety, health protocols and measures so that Fiji can safely welcome back international visitors. Vanuatu

Vanuatu has extended their State of Emergency to 31 July 2021, but that shouldn’t discourage you trying to get your bookings in early for the end of 2021 or even 2022. Made up of more than 80 islands, Vanuatu has a vast array of landscapes to explore from volcanoes and jungles to white sand beaches and blue holes. Check out our Vanuatu packages here.

Tahiti

Since we missed out on international travel in 2020, why not go bigger and better in 2021 with a holiday to French Polynesia! Imagine exploring the vanilla plantations in Moorea, snorkelling with manta rays in Bora Bora or visiting deserted atolls throughout the vast expanse of French Polynesian waters. Although the French Polynesia border is currently closed due to a recent increase in COVID-19 cases, it was open and shows their willingness to welcome travellers back to their shores so fingers crossed we’ll be saying “Ia Ora!” again soon.
