Overwater Bungalows in the South Pacific

Looking for that postcard perfect overwater bungalow experience? The South Pacific is spoiled with some of the most picturesque locations. So why not soak in the views from your very own Overwater Bungalow – which are closer to Australia than you may think! We’ve put together some of our favourite destinations with Overwater accommodations.

New Caledonia: L’Escapade Island Resort

Our closest South Pacific neighbour from Australia, New Caledonia is only a 2hr flight from Brisbane. Upon arrival in Noumea, you will notice the distinctive French influence complemented with a friendly Melanesian charm resulting in a rich, unique culture & delicious cuisine! New Caledonia is also spoiled with stunning scenery from the white sand beaches & blue lagoons in their Loyalty Islands (giving Bora Bora a run for its money!) to the rugged mountain peaks & wide open planes traversed by Stockmen - New Caledonia’s version of a Texan Cowboy! Take advantage of stunning views back to the Noumea coastline & lagoon with a stay at L’Escapade Island Resort located on the small islet, Îlot Maître. Only a short 20 min boat trip from Port Morselle in Noumea, the resort is the only overwater accommodation type in New Caledonia and the closest to Australia!

Vanuatu: Holiday Inn Resort

Looking for a little romance but also don’t want to be stuck in a hotel room all day? Vanuatu has so many fantastic experiences from witnessing a stunning live volcano in Tanna, discovering World War 2 History in Espiritu Santo or swimming in natural rock pools at the Mele Cascades. When you’ve finished your adrenaline-packed day, why not relax in your own private Overwater Villa at the Holiday Inn Resort with uninterrupted views and direct access to the lagoon.

Samoa: Coconuts Beach Club Resort & Spa

Talofa! The friendly “hello” of the Samoan people welcome you to their island paradise. Make the most of your time in Samoa with a rental car and explore at your own pace. Perhaps take a swim at the famous To Sua Ocean Trench, enjoy a photo-op at the Alofaaga blowholes, or visit the Saleaula Lava Fields! After exploring Upolu & Savai’i, make your way back to your Over Water Fale at Coconuts Beach Club Resort & Spa, the only of its type in Samoa! Each of the five Fales boasts stunning décor, waterfall showers & breathtaking oceanfront vistas. Complete with an expansive outdoor deck & sun loungers - all that’s missing is a sundowner cocktail and you!

Fiji: Likuliku Lagoon Fiji

Sometimes you just need to treat yourself and Likuliku Lagoon Fiji is the place to do it! Located in the Mamanuca Islands, you can access the resort by launch transfer, fastboat or even a helicopter! The Over Water Bures are an elegant oasis featuring traditional architecture and materials combined with elegant and stylish décor. With all your meals included and a plethora of included activities, you won’t be wanting for anything.

Cook Islands: Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort – Adults Only

Stunning azure waters and white sand beaches, this must be Aitutaki! From the moment you fly across this stunning island you will be Instagramming & posting like crazy, with such a picturesque destination, it’s hard to fight the urge to make your friends jealous! Perfect for a romantic getaway, honeymoon or just some well-deserved rest & relaxation, Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort is the ideal setting to unwind. Enjoy a seamless transition from the resort grounds to your Overwater Bungalow as this room type is half on land and half overwater! Take things at a slower pace with a leisurely stand up paddle along the lagoon or enjoy a day trip out to One Foot Island and snorkel amongst Giant Trevally.
